Thermal Energy Storage for Solar and Waste Heat Applications
If low quality waste heat from power generating plants can be stored, it can be used later on for space heating or cooling. Also, solar radiation is an abundant and renewable source of energy. For concentrated solar panels, thermal energy could be stored and can be utilized later for space heating or cooling.
The purpose of this project is to develop a safe and clean renewable energy storage system for residential and industrial use that enables the stored energy to be used later using adsorption technology with materials that have high energy densities. The system would not have any toxic materials. It would contain materials like air that we breathe, water that we drink and the earth material (adsorbent materials) that we walk on. Also, this system can store the thermal energy forever.
